DVC - why we should respond

Just come across this piece on Amy Welborn's Amazon Blog written over a year ago setting out cogently why it is important for Catholics to respond to the Da Vinci Code. I found the post linked from a new initiative by the Cardinal Ratzinger Fan Club, the Da Vinci Hoax blog.

Sadly, many Catholics are taken in by the garbage in the DVC or say things that make my heart sink like "It is very interesting". What is "interesting" about it? The fact that the author cannot even do the elementary "research" necessary to find out that members of Opus Dei are not monks - but will blithely slander the whole organisation? The fact that he is oblivious to the entire corpus of ante-Nicene literature and thinks that Constantine invented the divinity of Christ? If you think "we must see both points of view", do at least read some of the articles at the the Da Vinci Hoax blog.
