A martyr ordained subdeacon by a martyr

Shortly after the martyrdom of the three Carthusian priors, three more of the London Carthusians were arrested, Humphrey Middlemore, William Exmewe, and Sebastian Newdigate. They were sent, first to the Marshalsea Prison and then to the Tower. They were hanged, drawn and quartered at Tyburn on 19 June 1535.

Four years earlier, Sebastian Newdigate had been ordained subdeacon by the Bishop of Rochester, John Fisher. Three days later, the bishop who ordained him was himself beheaded propter odium fidei.
