Hello World

300 visitors today. Not sure what brought that on but the referrers list has quite a lot coming from Fr Stephanos who gave me one of his CLICK HERE FOR IT links on Sunday. Average is now 144 visitors per day - 1011 this week. Page views since April 11,613. (Blimey!)

The one I have been waiting for is that there are dots in all five continents on the World Map plot of the last 100 visitors. That's nice. There had to be a day when all that learning to program "Hello World" finally had a point :-)

I think it could be down to the St. Lukes effect everybody knows about the site!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did wonder about that but the actual numbers don't bear it out. A link on a post in a big American blog has an enormous effect on the stats. The last big jump was after Gerald Augustinus gave me a hat tip.

But yes, I do know that people at St Luke's are reading the blog. This reminds me to post some links to some good Catholic sites for young people.

Sorry Tim, excuse my ignorance - but what's a 'hat tip'?

A "hat tip" is a metaphorical tip of one's hat in respect towards another blogger from whom one has learned of a good link. I was thinking that it is an informal blogging equivalent to giving a reference for a quotation in a scholarly paper.

A hat tip also encourages readers of one blog to visit the other blog, so it is an act of kindness to the informative blogger.

I have seen it (notably on the Closed Cafeteria) abbreviated to H/T
