Glorious morning at Rednal

It was a pleasant change today to be able to begin the day with Mass. I served Fr Guy's Mass first (novus ordo Latin) and then he served mine (ritus antiquior). So we were able to invoke the aid not only of St Dominic but also of Sts Cyriacus, Largus and Smaragdus.

Fr Guy then treated me to a magnificent breakfast on the verandah. It is one of those glorious sunny days which are best appreciated first thing in the morning. It's going to be quite hot later.

I agree, that would make for a glorious morning. It's got all the right ingredients.

The "Brothers of the Little Oratory" of London visited Birmingham Oratory on 29th July.

We had a tour of the oratory church by Fr. Philip Cleavely (you know him?) One the best churches in England IMHO. Much more 'roman' than the London Oratory...

I never thought I'd see Andrew writing that... he obviously didn't think I, a regular of the Birmingham Oratory, would ever read it!

Its a shame Fr. Guy doesn't say the old mass any more. We are consigned to a small cloister chapel for the tridentine at Birmingham Oratory, and I pray that one day this beautiful mass will be reinstated for it. Perhaps you could also have this intention in your prayers too.
