Fr Ray Blake has a most environmentally friendly post concerning the wearing of birettas. A priest friend has turned down the heating in his presbytery in order to reduce his carbon footprint. He has consequently taken to wearing a cassock and biretta to offset the effects of the lower ambient temperature.Fr Ray speculates on the possibility of our Justice and Peace groups encouraging priests to wear birettas in order to enhance their green credentials. Perhaps I should raise this at the Deanery Meeting next Tuesday?

Why not put a promise up on the livesimply website (http://www.livesimply.org.uk/) and inviting 10 other priests to do the same!:)
This is good news for canon lawyers who already have green birettas (green rimmed academic birettas that is).
I like the idea!
Could be a good reminder for parishoners to dress modestly.
I can't see too many priests that I know wanting to wear the Gaudete Sunday biretta to match the rose colored vestments. I have heard more then one priest say they already think they look like big bottle of Pepto-Bismol on that Sunday.
I love it. When you've got Liturgical Abuses happening, you could have a crack squad of Green Birettas sent into clean up the mess.
