Hmmn. If it's true, then that sounds very encouraging. But I worry that the fluid will be obtained from the amniotic sacs around aborted foetuses, and because everyone's heard that "it's alright, it's not foetal tissue" then distinctions wil be blurred and people won't differentiate. And abortions will be carried out as a way of harvesting the amniotic fluid...You might also be interested in the article Foetal Tissue Transplantation which she wrote for Faith Magazine in July 1996.

Stem cells from amniotic fluid - a question

I can't say not being an authority, but these stem cells in the amniotic fluid are meant for the development of the baby; might there perhaps be some stunted development because the raw materials are being siphoned off in this way? I certainly hope not.
Is it that the amniotic fluid will be collected at birth?
Because if not, amniocentesis carries with it a 1 in 100 risk of miscarriage during pregnancy. It is a completely unsafe procedure, for the baby.
But don't most amniotic sacks break and spill at labor, becoming useless to researchers?
