We had our meeting this evening to prepare for the parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes at the end of May. I showed some pictures to illustrate the talk. You might appreciate some of them.
Through the trees, a view of the Immaculate Conception Basilica:

The river Gave and he complex of Churches:

The crown at the top of the Rosary Basilica:

Towards the end of the torchlight procession:

A view of the grotto where Our Lady appeared to St Bernadette:

One of my favourite images in Lourdes: in the Rosary Basilica, a mosaic of a young Mary with the legend "
Par Marie a Jesus" - "Through Mary to Jesus"

I can't wait to be there again!

Great pictures! i'll direct those reading my post on taking children to Lourdes. Do you mind directing your readers to mine? In contrast to yours as Mac describes..we'll probably have 23 children & 3 adults! lol
Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures of Lourdes.
Thank you for sharing the "Par Marie a Jesus" picture. I have been to Lourdes but had never noticed it.....mind you that's before I encountered St Louis de Montfort. I wonder whether you might renew your consecration whilst in Lourdes?
And in her halo, "I am the Immaculate Conception".
Dates for the Children's Pilgrimage over on my blog...
24th August-1st September 2007
God bless
This is wonderful. I cannot afford the trip to Lourdes, but I go to Rome City, IN where Our Lady of America appeared in 1956 (first as Our Lady of Lourdes and then as Our Lady of America).
You can read all about it and see for yourself at www.oltiv.org
There have been many reports of miraculous healings and sun spinnings here. I have seen it myself and feel most blessed to be so close to Our Lady. Someday, I hope to afford the travel to Europe to experience theis Holy Shrine too.
Fr Tim
when is the cut off point for the seminary selection panel for this year?
For those who can`t wait to be in Lourdes can I recommend a wonderful website with 4 live webcams in Lourdes, one of which is at the grotto, placed across the other side of the river. When I get that "I just wish I was sat in front of the grotto" feeling - well, I just go there, courtesy of this website: www.lourdes-france.org
I find it an inspiration in prayer, and it is often quite beautiful late at night, especially if you have difficulty sleeping.
The Selection Conference for the seminary was last weekend. I would encourage you to be in touch with Fr Stephen Langridge.
So one would have to join next year? IE There are no more selection panels this year.
Yes, unless there were exceptional circumstances. (There's a fair bit of preparation before the Selection Conference in any case.)
Best to get in touch with Fr Langridge at Southwark Vocations if you want to apply for Southwark or your own vocations director if you want to apply to another Diocese.
