Cosmos Liturgy Sex has a post about a some people who damaged a marble altar a the Annunciation Catholic Church in Morgan County, Alabama. They claimed biblical authority for doing so and consider Pope Benedict to be the antichrist.
Various penalties were imposed by the circuit judge, Sherrie Paler, including a 2 year suspended prison sentence and payment of restitution. They pleaded guilty to "criminal mischief".
I could think of one or two other Churches where criminal mischief has been wreaked but the perpetrators have never been prosecuted.

Ha!
By the way do you know where Fr. Vosko stays while visiting a parish?
The Wrectory.
For those keeping score at home... I'm thinking this was Morgan County - Alabama.
Love your blog, Laudetur Iesus Christus!
Blimey - there's me looking it up on google an' all to check - and there's two flippin' Morgan Counties.
(Corrected the post)
If they did that to my parish, 2 years probation would be the least of their worries, I assure you.
The problem in prosecution when the Complainer does not co-operate with the Police, is that without the statement of the Complainer you don't always have the necessary corroboration to achieve a sufficiency of evidence for consideration of criminal prosecution...
Of course it was for "criminal mischief' because it was just a Papist church.
Had it been a black protestant building, a synagogue, mosque, or [insert any other sect]'s meeting space that was 'desecrated' they would have been prosecuted for a "hate crime" and would be in prison for 20 years....
The beast that is the american legal system.

I still think it would help if the Complainer supported prosecution!
