Pope to Lourdes next year

Zenit reports that Fr Lombardi, Director of the Vatican Press Office, has confirmed that the Holy Father will be visiting Lourdes next year which is the 150th anniversary of the apparitions.

This is very good news. A date has not yet been confirmed but in Blackfen we are praying that it will be for the Feast of the Visitation as we will be on our Parish Pilgrimage to Lourdes at that time.

Do we know when ? could it be for 11th Feb ? Differing rumours suggesting it's either end of May or Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.

Late May, I believe.

The feast of the Visitation, 31 May, was the date rumoured among the Lourdes hoteliers. That's the date we're hoping for...

It (the Visitation) was also the date being mentioned by the nurses at the Hospital where Pope John Paul II stayed when he visited Lourdes...

I'm tempted to see if I can put money on it at William Hill...

Presumably this pilgrimage is exclusively for your parishioners?

Anon - we have booked out 30 rooms and I have to give priority to my own parishioners. Should there be any spare, I will announce it on the blog. Also I will let people know where we are staying and our programme in case anyone in Lourdes wants to join us for Mass etc.

A "bloggers' meet" in Lourdes would be fun, too :-)

Well, if you're starting a waiting list, I'd love to go on it! But how? Delia
