In many Primary schools children are now being taught explicit sex education in the classroom. The Church, however, teaches that you, the parents, are the right persons to deal with this very important and sensitive area of your children's lives. Nevertheless, the Oratory Fathers and the Governors of the Oratory Primary School recognise that you may welcome some help and guidance in dealing with such an important and sensitive issue. That is why we are offering these six talks designed to cover various aspects of your children's sexual and moral development and behaviour. We hope you will find them helpful. Please tell us what you think of them.Jackie Parkes (Catholic Mom of 10) has posted my sister Jane's notes on the first talk, given by Greg Clovis on "Moral Formation, the Internet, TV, and all that".

Judging by your sister's notes the talk seemed very good but looking at pictures of the talk it didn't seem as if many parents were interested enough to attend. I imagine that the Oratory is a Faithful school and if only a few of the parents attended how does one motivate the average Catholic whose children attend Catholic in name only schools to instruct their children in the Catholic view of sexuality?
Well actually the talks were very well-attended for quite a small inner city school..& that's always the danger we take putting out pictures..several were behind the photographer. Anyway it's not so much about numbers..if one or two hear & act on the message that's better than doing nothing.
How you motivate the parents..& a lot were non- Catholic is by evangelising..that's what they call me..Jackie the evangelist! Could be called worse things don't you think?
God bless..& start your own talks in whatever situation you find yourself.
