Lorraine Allard (33) was diagnosed with liver cancer.Since she was pregnant, the medical staff offered her a "termination". This is a choice faced by many women nowadays. Lorraine refused the abortion and said "If I am going to die, my baby is going to live." Lorraine died on 18 January but her son, Liam, was born alive on 18 November. Lorraine's husband Martyn said "Lorraine was so brave. I can't begin to describe how brave she was." Lorraine died on 18 January.Picture Daily Telegraph
Below is a picture of Lorraine and Martyn with baby Liam. God bless them and reward them for their heroic sacrifice. May Our Lady of Sorrows come to them and console them in this time of desolation and bring them peace,
Of all the saints whom we might call upon for assistance at this time, surely one stands out above all the rest, Saint Giovanna Beretta Molla who similarly gave her life for her unborn child and for the future the Lord has in mind for us:

Another living example of true mother's love.
May she rest in peace. God bless her.
Such bravery totally overwhelms me..
May she rest in peace, and may she pray for us.
How sad. But how beautiful too.
Amen to Father's prayers.
In the face of temptation and a most awful moral dilemma, the phrase "heroic virtue" comes to mind.
[George writes:] Lorraine is a real hero for our times. Her reward in Heaven must be awesome for this incredible sacrifice. What an example in this age of 'the culture of death and selfishness'. Her husband Martyn is also a mega-hero for supporting his wife in that most 'impossible' of decisions and also as he now faces the task of bringing up their children. Our prayers are with him and I am sure that family and friends will rally round with support. Their sacrifice is a beacon of light to all of us and I am sure God will reward them abundantly in many ways.
May she rest in peace, and may her son inherit her conviction and faith.
I think you made a little mistake in your post Father; the Saint's name is GIANNA not GIOVANNA.
God Bless

Antonia - you are right that she is normally called Gianna. This is an abbreviation of the name Giovanna, a feminine of Giovanni which would be "John" in English.
