Delia, a reader of this blog, very kindly sent me some frankincense which comes all the way from the Yemen. This was a special gift for the feast of Corpus Christi and I look forward to using it then.On the feast day, Thursday 22 May, at 8pm, there will be a solemn High Mass at Blackfen, followed by a short Corpus Christi Procession. Is this a gift from Delia Smith? If so, I hope it is not some left-over ingredient from her recent TV series 'How to cheat at cooking'!
Incidentally, I assume you are celebrating Corpus Christi on 22 May (not 22 March which was Holy Saturday - in both calendars).

I hope you mean Thursday, 22 May. Otherwise, you are eight weeks late.
I've just seen a large notice outside a Church in Stafford, which advertises a
"High Mass and Outdoor Procession on the Feast of Corpus Christi, Thursday 22 May".
Wonderful you might think - however, the 12th Church is high anglican, coming under the episcopal oversight of the Anglican bishop of Ebbsfleet.
I've not seen any similar notices outside any local Catholic Churches.
I know the dates of Holy Days are all to pot at the moment, but Corpus Christi on 22 March?

Do take the trouble to try it out first. There is Frankincense and Frankincense; at its best it is wonderful; a lemony luxurious aroma. At its worst it can be like old nylon socks left on a barbecue.

Yes, yes, 22 May. Sorry. I'm going to get the Latin Mass altar boys crew to try out the incense before Sunday Mass to see what it is like. It does smell nice, though. Someone warned me today that it should be used sparingly as it produces a lot of smoke. But then at Blackfen we like a lot of smoke.
Do hope it doesn't smell like old socks when lit - never even occurred to me. Chuck away if it does, or use in bath (unlit).
