Curial rumours confirmed

The Bollettino today (English text at VIS) announced the following two Vatican appointments:

Archbishop Angelo Amato SDB, secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, has been appointed as prefect of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints.

Fr. Luis Francisco Ladaria Ferrer SJ has been appointed as secretary of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, and made an Archbishop.

The remaining rumour is that Cardinal Antonio Cañizares Llovera, Archbishop of Toledo and Primate of Spain, sometimes nicknamed the "Little Ratzinger" will succeed Cardinal Arinze as Prefect of the the Congregation for Divine Worship. (See 25 June post.)

"Little Ratzinger" That's a new nick. The "secular progressive" here in Spain have tried time, and time again to deprive Mons. Cañizares of any credibility. Thank goodness he's too good for that.

If appointed, we're going to be losing one of the best bishops here in Spain, but the whole Church is going to gain a great head of Dycasterium.

Father, have you heard rumors, lately, that a "reform" of the Novus Ordo is being considered so far? That would be great news. And Cañizares is DEFINITELY the one to implement it.

I hadn't heard before of Mons Canizares. But thank God that Card. Arinze is to have a worthy successor. I wonder if, being Abp. of Toledo, he celebrated the Mozarabic Rite?

Well, I'm affraid the very Monsinior has publicly discarded he was going to go to Rome.

Toledo won't miss his Cardinal, for now ;)

Sorry to hear that - but as you say, I'm sure Toledo will be relieved.
