The letter offers a brief legal clarification:
Our new name has been worked out in consultation with the Holy See but, as with all things of this nature, we can only say that the name will be absolutely finalised when the community's statutes are approved. This is normal proceedure. It continues with an explanation of the new name and the affirmation that they continue to claim St Alphonsus as their spiritual father.

Cheers for the Filii Sanctissimi Redentoris, then! What a beautiful name they have picked. I'm really feeling happy for them.
The situation seems not totally dissimilar to that of the Servi Jesu et Mariae (S.J.M.), founded by the late Fr. Andreas Honnisch to preserve the traditional Ignatian spirituality of the Jesuits (S.J.)
In 1994, the community was recognised by the Holy See as a Congregation of Pontifical Right.
It has not so far expanded beyond Germany, I think, but it has a thriving apostolate.
