It seems that they are contemplating a change of name. They do not wish to enter the modern Redemptorist congregation and to be taken over by them - especially since there are some who would like to see the traditionalist group suppressed. A change of name will make the distinction clearer - but the Transalpine Redemptorists will continue to pray for all the deceased members of the Redemptorist congregation and will continue to follow the teaching of St Alphonsus.

In relation to this issue, please note the letter from the Vicar General of Aberdeen Diocese in this week's Scottish Catholic Observer:

I wonder what 'Transalpine' means in this context anyway?
The Transalpine Redemptorists have now changed their name to 'Sons of the Most Holy Redeemer' with initials after the fathers names of F.SS.R.

What a pity they cannot have any links to the "modern Redemptorists". One might hope that they would recognise the fervour of the Faith when they saw it and welcome them.
Well, "hope", perhaps isn't the right word. Perhaps "fantasize" would be more like it.
I wonder how the "modern Redemptorists" are doing for young vocations lately. If the gentlemen running the great shrine of Ste. Anne de Beaupre in Quebec are any indication, "not well", would be the most polite answer.
