My blog crashing your computer?
I have had several reports that when people open my blog their computer crashes. This is obviously not something I want to happen... Does anyone have any idea what causes this? The sidebar uses javascript from bloglines, paypal and site meter. It could be one of these. I'll try removing the code from paypal first. Let me know if there is any change for the better.

My computer is fairly old and crashes a lot, but not from your blog -- as far as I can tell.
It works fine for me in Firefox 3, Internet Explorer 7, and Google Chrome on Windows, and in Seamonkey and Firefox 2 on Linux.
Many thanks, Latin autodidact. Clearly you are not using AOL... bwahahaha!
No problems in Chrome, Father!
It happened just now 22.40, It does happen if I open individual stories on the dashboard, so presumably it is not the sidebar.
Safari does OK, too.
It crashes occasionally in Firefox 3.0.3, but only when running on Vista SP1, and not consistently, i.e., I cannot replicate the crash.
HoC runs well - and always has done - on XP.
Fr.,
I've tested in FF 2 & 3 as well as IE7 and Safari with no problems. All seems well with the major browsers.
Too awful to contemplate!
Needless to say, my Mac doesn't crash (using Safari to view your blog).
For those still stuck with MS products, try sprinkling your machines with Holy Water - or better still, total immersion...
Oops - did it again! I have a Mac, with Safari. It also happened a few times a few months ago on the OTSOTA blog, but then was OK. I don't know about these things, but could it be one of the links in a recent post?
I use IE7 and had problems so I gave up and visited Fr Ray Blake...:)
I use IE7 and I had problems. I thought it was your blog site but I couldn't see how. Glad that it works normally now. I hate going over to Fr Ray Blake first.....:)
One other thought. I don't know if this is the cause or not, but when loading your blog, the lower information bar on IE seems to indicate that it is taking a long time to load something from http://dg.specificclick.net/ (followed by a long URL that includes the words "hermeneutic of continuity" among other gibberish -- gibberish to me, that is).
Seems to be fine now. Maybe you could try reinstating the PayPal button?
