Society of St Justin

In response to my post about Salisbury Cathedral, Steven sent information about the Society of St Justin which has an apostolate to pray at places that were once used for Catholic worship. An extract:
On visiting a church, monastery, shrine, even if ruined, which had previously been used for Catholic worship recite the following [viz. Pater, Ave, Gloria] for the repose of the souls of all who have worshipped there in the past, especially the priests who faithfully offered the holy sacrifice of the Mass and in reparation for all wrongs committed there. Pray also for the unity of Christ’s church around the See of Peter and for the intentions of our Holy Father

What a wonderful idea. While on my explorations I often admire the large tombs of catholic benefactors who are buried in ex-catholic churches and feel for them as they would have left their fortunes to the church in exchange for Masses to be said to help them through purgatory which would no longer be said for them.

I will be sure to add this to my practice as I go on my church hunts. For now though I think english prayers will have to do until my latin improves

That's a really good thing to know. Thanks for posting it.

Being an addicted church crawler, I would happily join, if the link only worked!

I always say a Catholic prayer when I visit, but the discipline of the same prayers, and for the intention of those who should be prayed for in the particular church, is a wonderful idea.

I have two questions. -
1. Is it only for buildings which were taken from the Church, or do one which were sold count too ?
2. Does one have to actually enter the building ?
