BBC sneers at St Therese

Just a quick link for you to Fr Ray Blake's justifiably annoyed reaction the BBC's Sunday programme yesterday:

BBC: "As if the body of a dead nun were not enough..."

Father F., like I said on Fr. Blake's blog, here in the USA we have the "usual suspects" (like Rev. Richard McBrien) that show up whenever anything "Catholic" is in the news;...disgusting is this BBC report;...but you know, I think Saint Therese may just be praying extra hard for these people; she offered her last Holy Communion for an apostate priest and suffered a terrible "dark night" that somehow put her in solidarity with unbelievers (so a priest once told us in retreat). May she bless England and Holy Mother Church!

Embarrassingly, a relative of mine works for the BBC, but as a friend of mine from University said: ''there's one in every family!''

I disagree with Fr. Blake's point about Muslims. By and large the BBC does tend to give a platform to "dissident" Muslims in the sense that it would normally preferes to interview radical Muslims who will say controversial things and generate headlines rather than ordinary, moderate Muslims who will just say dull, sensible things.

That said, it is extraordinary that despite being a public service broadcaster the Beeb still treats religion in the manner of a tabloid newspaper - concentrating only on pecualiar, "controversial" fringe elements and ignoring the mainstream.

HOW DARE THEY BEHAVE IN SUCH A KNAVISH MANNER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Who do they think they are????

Anyone know how to 'de-tune' a TV set so as not to receive BBC channels???? Public burning of BBC TV licences is called for here!

These people have crossed the mark and must be brought to book!

It is good to be reminded of the words of St Jermome "We do not worship the relics of the martyrs, but honor them in our worship of Him whose martyrs they are. We honor the servants in order that the respect paid to them may be reflected back to the Lord."

Honoring our saints was never intended as a form of idolatry, we only adore God but He has given us the Saints for a reason. We pray for their intercession

"If the Apostles and martyrs, while still living on earth, could pray for other men, how much more may they do it after their victories? Have they less power now that they are with Jesus Christ?"

So will all the ignorant atheists please leave us Catholics alone to do what God intended us to do under the guidance of our Mother the Church.
