"Almighty Answers" blog

A student at the University of Edinburgh tells me of the Catholic chaplaincy there, which is run by the Dominicans. The students are fortunate to have five friars dedicated to their our spiritual care.

Last year they started up a blog called 'Almighty Answers' to encourage ordinary students (as well as anyone else who comes across the blog) to ask questions about the Faith or any other aspect of the Church. These questions are then responded to, either by one of the priests, or by a student, depending on the nature of the question.

The blog was set up and run last term during the Chaplaincy's 'Mission Week' and it has now been restarted. They welcome questions and comments ...

I am extremely envious of the students at Edinburgh, FIVE friars dedicated to their care, DAILY MASS!!! At the University of the West of England we have one priest (who in additon to being a parish priest is the chaplin to two 'Catholic' schools, the local hospital and is the area dean) for 3/4 an hour every Thursday, that 3/4 an hour is Mass celebrated in the 'ecumencial' chaplincy on a table with a crucifix the sight of which would give the late Mgr Lefebrve a heart attack.

The friars have a central Edinburgh to look after as well, but yes, we are very lucky. We also have several young men discerning vocations to the priesthood, at least two of whom are entering the applicancy year now.

I just want to say that I am one of the lucky Edinburgh students.
The friars are great, really dedicated and supportive of the student community.
