Announcement of the Holy Father's State Visit

As more or less every Catholic blog in the world has now posted, today the official announcement was made of the Holy Father's forthcoming visit to Britain. There is a fine new website for the occasion: Pope Benedict in the United Kingdom.

I have just registered at the website but I am not sure whether it would be considered cheeky or not to ask for press accreditation as a blogger :-)

The website carries the Press release issued jointly by HMG and the Catholic Bishops’ Conferences of Scotland, England and Wales. Rt Hon Jim Murphy MP, Secretary of State for Scotland, is the Government Minister who will lead the preparations for the visit.

Her Majesty the Queen has confirmed the state visit and here is the statement from Buckingham Palace. I just had to take a screen grab of this historic page from the official website of the British Monarchy:

Here is the video announcement from Archbishop Nichols:

It was also confirmed today that the Holy Father will beatify Cardinal Newman during his visit. See the announcement at the Newman Cause blog.

Dear Father Tim,
Of course you should apply for press accreditation. And if you don't get it at first we will all chime in! Don't forget to remind them that your readership is international. I write from Italy.

Whizzo! How about ordering lots of 'Hermeneutic of Continuity OK' t-shirts, car stickers, etc.? You could sell them through your blog. What a sight on the telly for the Tabletisti!

Dear Father Finigan

At the invitation of Her Majesty The Queen, His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI will pay a Papal Visit to the United Kingdom from the 16th-19th September 2010.

His Holiness will arrive in Edinburgh on Thursday, 16th of September and will be received by HM The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

His Holiness will also visit Glasgow, London and Coventry during the four-day Papal Visit.

A Vision of Britain by HRH The Prince of Wales is a 1989 book on Architecture , contrast this to my poor Londoner's Vision of Britain which was a dream of Christ who said the words "Jam lucis orto sidere" to me. I'm sure Pope Benedict will be interested in the poor London's Vision of Britain when he visits Britain.

PAPA RATZI ORA PRO NOBIS!

At the next General Election former Met Police Inspector Michael Barnbrook, the malevolent neo-Nazi BNP Police Spokesman, will now be standing as a candidate for MP in the Dagenham and Rainham Parliamentary constituency. Nick Griffin MEP, the BNP's leader will be standing as a candidate for MP in the neighbouring Parliamentary constituency of Barking. The BNP are also threatening to put up candidates in both the Bexleyheath and Crayford, and the Old Bexley and Sidcup constituencies which includes the RC Parish of Our Lady of the Rosary in the London Borough of Bexley.

Our Lady of the Rosary pray for us in BNP leader Nick Griffin MEP's EU/GLA/LDA/ODA NEO-NAZI DEVELOPMENT TIMES Amen

Yours sincerely

I am so happy!! So pleased the event will be held in the Venerable John Henry's home diocese -- and what an honor that the Holy Father himself will perform the Beatification ceremony.

Thank you, God, for this kindness.
