After the false alarm in January, it seems that the Vatican is indeed now putting out Twitter feeds in various languages. See: the article New Vatican Internet Services at the Vatican Radio website.
The English language feed for you to follow is: @news_va_en. Next challenge is to get in a bit quicker and snap up something better like @Vatican (not an official feed.) Or they could speak nicely to the owner, Pablo Arratia, offer him some financial compensation, and persuade him it is the right thing to do. Heck he might even waive the compensation. Has anyone looked into this?
Anyway - it is good to see official Vatican feeds on Twitter.

The question I'm interested in is, who is going to be actually writing the tweets (as I suppose I must accustom myself to use the word)?
If what appears is going to be only links to the items that appear in the Bollettino or at RV, that I already look at a couple of times each day....
Have a wonderful Passiontide, and a happy Easter!
Even that on its own would be useful to some people who use Twitter as a quick way to get to links from various sources. No harm in having several routes to the same information.
I believe that after nine months of inactivity a Twitter name can be claimed by someone else. the last tweet there was 01/09/09 so they could get it this way early June. Or they could try @ev or @biz (the founders of Twitter) and ask nicely for @Vatican.
