Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.

Faith Summer Session 2010
This week the Faith Summer Session is taking place at Woldingham School in Surrey. As usual, there is a large group of students from all around the UK, together with priests and a significant proportion of the seminarians from British dioeceses. The theme for the talks this year is The Church: I am with you always". I spoke this morning on the Church as our living link with Christ.
We have a guest speaker each year and I was delighted to hear that James MacMillan will be addressing us tomorrow. We're planning to have a bloggers' photo...
As well as the principal purpose of working to give young people a sound understanding of the Catholic faith, the Summer Session of the Faith Movement is always a great opportunity for networking. I have already been able to catch up with many friends and tomorrow is the guest day which will see a number of others, especially families joining us for the afternoon.
I see that Fr Zuhlsdorf is also at a networking thingy over at La Crosse, where he has, incredibly, crossed paths with Fr John Boyle, at a Canon Law Conference addressed by Archbishop Raymond Burke.

Wish I was there! Missing it!
@ Father Finigan
I recently took my two sons Michael Roy 21 , and Joseph John 19 along to the first annual Sparkle Cup 5-a-side tournament which was hosted at 'Goals' Eltham http://www.jimmymizen.org/event/sparkle-cup
Joe is currently claiming Jobseekers Allowance, and he is desperately looking for a work opportunity. I asked Margaret Mizen if there were any places available on The Jimmy Mizen Foundation Apprentice Scheme, but Margaret said that it is "not up and running yet".
I think your networking thingy should link with http://www.jimmymizen.org/ so that the students are aware of The Jimmy Mizen Foundation Apprentice Scheme development, and the associated opportunities that will soon hopefully begin to materialise.
PAPA RATZI ( http://www.thepapalvisit.org ) ORA PRO NOBIS!
Our Lady of the Rosary ( http://the-hermeneutic-of-continuity.blogspot.com/ ) pray for us too!
Many thanks, Vesper. I'll post on that.
Father, when you have a chance after the conference, please PLEASE post your Powerpoint slideshow from your lecture. Those of us that can not attend (nor hear) it would really appreciate it - there seems to be a giant pond in our way. Thank you.
Agnes - many thanks for your interest. I'm afraid the Powerpoint won't be much use because it is mainly quotations from the scriptures which I then explained. However I will try to post something of use.
Fr. Tim,
I would like to second Agnes' request. Would it be possible for the speakers' notes and presentations at the Faith Session to be posted on a blog or website somewhere so that they can have a broader audience internationally?
Here in Canada younger Catholics are desperate for real flesh-and-blood Catholicism and large helpings of doctrinal meat. All we get is totally uninspiring "be-nice-to-each another" religious instruction at school and "be-nice-to-each another" sermons at Mass.
We just can't survive on this sort of spiritual starvation diet!
Agnes and Francis - thank you again for your interest. I forgot to mention that all of the talks will be available as downloadable mp3s. I'll post a link here when they go online.
