Bluegrass interpretation of "What a friend we have in Jesus"

I realised after posting a Youtube video last night that we have not had any bluegrass gospel for some time. My apologies for this dereliction and here is a bluegrass rendition of "What a friend we have in Jesus" by Ida Red.

Gospel and Bluegrass

Paulinus has a good post comparing two versions of the gospel song "Old time religion" (Cf. In Hoc Signo Vinces: Old Time Religion ) This reminded me that we have not had any Bluegrass Gospel (not to be confused with Southern Gospel) for quite a while so here is a fun rendition of "Set Your Fields on Fire" by the Saltgrass Band. There is a certain amount of joshing at the beginning - if you want to skip some of this, the song begins just after 1'35" - just be sure to catch the beginning. My all-time favourite is still If you can't walk on water / Then you better get in the boat

One or two people have hinted that the blog has been a little dominated by news of the traditional liturgy in recent months. Oh, all right, they didn't really hint or say "little". My trad readers need not fear: there will always be room here for baroque vestments, buckled shoes and papal thrones but it is true that we haven't had any fun videos for a while. So here is a little more bluegrass gospel - not for the liturgy, of course.
