... but the agents of the culture of death are cross that it doesn't work properly for finding abortion mills. Siri - a popular feature of the new iPhone 4S is a voice-activated, electronic personal assistant designed to 'help you do the things you do every day.' Things people do every day: have a chinese meal, go to the library, get an abortion, you know the sort of thing.
Siri has annoyed the pro-aborts by not instantly serving up information about where to get your baby done away with. One feminist was particularly annoyed that she got directed to a pro-life crisis centre in Washington.
I wonder whether the spirit of the late, great Cardinal of Genoa is having an influence on the app. Has anyone tried to use it to search for a place to buy trousers for women? (Cf. his 1960 Notification Concerning Men's Dress Worn By Women.)

Many of these American "pro-life crisis centres" are not honest about what they are doing. I have come across many accounts of them not informing the patients who are visiting them that they are not anti-choice and will not help to refer them to abortion providers.
(I think you have one "not" too many in there.)
If abortion is (as we believe) the deliberate killing of a human being, then it would be immoral for a pro-life crisis centre to refer a person to an abortion provider.
Anti-choice is a tendentious way to refer to people who are pro-life.
I can respect that position, Father, but isn't it misleading to advertise yourself as a "crisis pregnancy centre" etc. whilst not informing patients about your true position on abortion? There is a deception at work here. This time-wasting tactic is likely to result in women having abortions at later rather than earlier periods of their pregnancy.
Am trying to get to grips with Siri on my i Phone 4S!
Loved yr link to the Cardinal of Genoa.....
People may be deceived but there is no formal lie told. This would normally not be acceptable but in extreme circumstances it can be justified. The danger to the life of an unborn child is a case in point. One such agency that I am familiar with has a 70% success rate in persuading women not to abort their child. And of course such agencies provide comprehensive care, helping with accommodation, baby clothes, buggies etc.
It would be similar to Blessed John XXIII's policy of allowing parish priests to give false Baptism certificates to Jews during WWII. There was a deception but it was justified.
There certainly is a great deception going on Scout - a very evil one... Harming the most vulnerable amongst us.
I often wonder about if someone had decided to abort us.. We wouldn't have Jackie or Scout posting. Who decides which life is worth keeping?
The UK is a country where women are meant to be entitled to their private reproductive choices. Can it really be acceptable for counsellors to deceive vulnerable women in an attempt to emotionally manipulate them into a pre-determined outcome? This is not an ethical way for the anti-abortion movement to pursue its cause. Another factor here is that in some cases these tactics will result in women having abortions at later stages than they otherwise would have done. This may increase the risk to the woman's health, as well as being, in the eyes of many people, less morally desirable.
"Emotionally manipulate" is another tendentious expression. A young parishioner of mine was detained for an hour in order to try and force her to undergo amniocentesis - obviously with the recommendation of abortion if there was any "deformity" in her baby. the pro-life counsellors simply tell the truth about what is happening in abortion. Most women know what abortion is, and feel that they have to kill their baby because of circumstances. The pro-life counsellors arrange that their circumstances are improved so that they can keep the baby. That is not manipulation.
If a woman rejects the assistance of the pro-life counsellor, it is a matter of days to get in contact with another clinic. The "late abortion" spectre is simply a scare tactic on the part of those opposed to pro-life counselling.
I don't agree that late abortion is less morally desirable than early abortion. A human being is a human being.
If the life of a baby is threatened, it is right to take extreme measures. In a society where abortion is the solution of first resort, we must take every available opportunity to offer the alternative. After all we can force nothing, we merely offer mothers the chance to consider in a context that makes choice possible.
Why must the default opinion be that a crisis pregnancy centre refers for abortions?
Aren't crisis pregnancy centres supposed to help with crisis pregnancies?
Can crisis pregnancies only be helped by abortions?
(My question is as to who one can say that abortion helps with crisis pregnancies. Abortion seems rather to end the pregnancy.)
