"ut sumant et dent ceteris"

The hymn for matins today is the Sacris Solemniis of St Thomas Aquinas. The fifth verse particularly caught my attention:
Sic sacrificium istud instituit,
cuius officium committi voluit
solis presbyteris, quibus sic congruit,
ut sumant, et dent ceteris.

Thus he instituted this sacrifice, whose ministry he willed to commit to priests alone, for whom it is fitting that they should receive it and give it to others.
