Clergy INSET on the movements

Mgr Keith Barltrop of CASE, (the Catholic Agency to Support Evangelisation) gave an in-service training day today for the Southwark clergy on the New Ecclesial Movements. He acknowledged the obvious difficulty in defining what exactly counts as a new ecclesial movement but gave an excellent overview of this phenomenon within the Church. His talk was humorous and insightful, recognising the problems honestly but positively and offering an analysis of how the movements have found their place within the Church.

At lunch, he realised that he had not mentioned the Faith Movement, the ecclesial movement that was founded in the Archdiocese of Southwark. There was a hilarious moment at the beginning of the afternoon when he made up profusely for this omission.
