Diocesan magazine's Youth Page - on the old rite!

When I looked quickly at the "Teens & 20s" page of the current Portsmouth People (the Diocesan magazine) I thought that it was just another Yoof piece. In fact, it is given over to Thomas Messenger's account of why he goes to the FSSP at Reading for Mass in the old rite.

"Oh the times they are a-chay-ee-an-gin!"

Hopefully, it could be more a case of "the bishops they are a-chay-ee-an-gin!"

There was no change of personnel in the Portsmouth People but the Editors advisers were expanded from two, whom I shann not name to four. Even in Porstmouth, though, the Youth tend to be traditiional.

Most of these things are dependent on the lay people who are appointed to these administrative posts being open to the teachings of the Church and understanding the greatness of the liturgy. It just takes one good appointment to bring some good and likewise it takes one bad appointment to cause doctrinal and liturgical chaos. Looking around at other diocesan communications for youth, one can see that Leeds and Westminster, tend to be slightly better then the usual sentimental secularised rubbish 'give the yoof a chance' type of youth ministry that is spouted out by those CYMFED types on diocesan teams.

You can totally tell we have a new bishop. Deo gratias! For anyone who would like to see the contrast, just look at the previous three or four editions (plus I have private correspondence to hand).
