Inside view of life at Castel Gandolfo

Fifty children of wartime refugees born in the bedroom of Pope Pius XII, Pope John XXIII going AWOL to stroll in a nearby town, Pope John Paul II playing hide-and-seek with the children of his employees: these are some of the reminiscences of Saverio Petrillo, the director of the Pontifical Villas.

He gave an interview with L'Osservatore Romano a while back which Sandro Magister has now featured. See "My Summers with the Popes in Castel Gandolfo." The Director of the Pontifical Villas Reminisces.
