Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.
I wish you all a very happy Fourth of July over there in the land of the free and the home of the brave. I thought I was a bit late but then realised that it is still early evening for you. I hope you had an enjoyable day.
For the video this year, here is Kate Smith IN 1938 introducing the new composition "God Bless America."
Thank you and I went the whole day without any Brit but you wishing me happy day as most did not even pay attention..
Ah me, and I did miss the beer and bratwurst. There is NOTHING on a hot summer's day in the Midwest like a Wisconsin Johnson's Brat and a North Coast Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout, sitting by Lake Mendota, watching the boat races and fireworks...I am a little homesick.
Thanks, Father. Travelling alone in 2006, I spent the glorious 4th of July while in glorious England. I just silently enjoyed the fact that I was in the mother country on that particular day and offered a prayer for the repose of the soul of George III. (Well, perhaps I didn't really do that, but should have.) God bless us, eveyone.
And don’t sweat it Supertradmum – or rather you would if you were here… Milwaukee and Chicago hit record highs yesterday of 101 and 103 respectively! But it could be worse. We still have power, thank God - unlike those poor people out East. And we still have homes unlike many out West.

And thank you for not excoriating us for the rebellion of 1776. God save the Queen!
Thank you, Father:
Particularly for the recording of Kate Smith's 'God Bless America.'
