Extraordinary form in beautiful places

Bishop Jesse Mercado of the diocese of Parañaque in the Philippines has actively encouraged the celebration of Mass according to the usus antiquior at the National Shrine of St. Therese of the Child Jesus where there is a Missa Cantata every Sunday at 9.30am. There are several other locations in the Philippines where the Classical Roman rite is celebrated. The photo above is from Christmas Day Mass at the parish of Jesus, Lord of the Divine Mercy, in the Diocese of Novaliches.

See Fr Seán Coyle's post at the "Bangor to Bobbio" blog:
Philippine 'Diocese brings back Latin Mass' for more details.

In Sweden also, the usus antiquior is thriving, particularly among the native Swedish Catholics. See the post on Rorate Caeli: “Jag skall träda fram till Guds altare” (Swedish for Introibo ad altare Dei)

What is there on earth which can surpass this? Absolutely breathtaking in its beauty and majesty! Thank you for posting this.

I've always marvelled at how beautiful some of the churches (and masses mind you) are in the Philippines.

Some corrections:

1) The Parish of the Lord of Divine Mercy is in the Diocese of Cubao, not Novaliches. The Diocese of Novaliches has a TLM every weekday in the FFI convent, but there is no fixed hour for its celebration.

2) The National Shrine of St. Therese is under the jurisdiction of the Military Ordinariate, and is located within the territory of the Archdiocese of Manila.

Bishop Mercado of Paranaque was friendly enough to the TLM but due to factors in which he had no involvement, the only every-Sunday TLM in the Diocese of Paranaque (in St. Jerome Emiliani and St. Susanna parish) was canceled last June 28 and has not been reinstated. Perhaps the reason why the Bishop of Paranaque is mentioned is because the TLM in the National Shrine of St. Therese was organized by liturgical "refugees" from the TLM in Paranaque.

Father, please notice that the priest who celebrates in Sweden is Fr. Marcus Künkel, ICRSP. One great (in body and spirit) priest! :)
