Spectator debate result
@AnnaArco has been live tweeting tonght's Spectator Debate on the motion "England should be a Catholic country again". Apparently, it was hilarious and good natured but more shambolic than the recent Intelligence Squared debate: at one point it descended into hysterical laughter. That sounds good to me; debates are pretty poor affairs without the odd bout of uncontrolled mirth.
Remarkably, the motion was carried so congratulations to the Catholic side: Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, Piers Paul Read, and Dom Anthony Sutch, who faced Lord Harries, Matthew Parris, and Stephen Pound.
