Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.
Catholic rapper Akalyte has this on Matt 16.18. Rap is not really my cup of tea (don't look so surprised!) but I do rather like the way that the voice of Archbishop Fulton Sheen starts it off and then pops up now and again.
I'm not the biggest rap fan myself, but this is a very interesting one. I know that technically, using Archbishop Sheen's voice is called sampling. But it was almost as if he was in the studeo with how his voice matched up to the music.
Hi, we would like to share you a story from the Philippines. Please grab a copy or search Philippine daily inquirer magazine.
Filipino triplets baptized in mass baptism held in the country. Said to be a first in world records of Baptism, read about them and their life story in Philippine Daily Inquirer MAgazine tomorrow August 23,2009.
I think Fulton Sheen would appreciate that. I once heard him deliver a great address, on The Holy Trinity, in a theatre in Dublin during the Patrician Year in 1961-62
My dad was at the Birmingham Charismatic Conference the other week. The rapping Priest,Fr Stan Fortuna was there. My dad and many of his associates are in their seventies and weren't quite sure what had hit them haha! Being Charismatics they managed to adapt of course!
I don't exactly like rap, but I like this stuff strangely. They sample it well, as you say, Al, matching Abp Sheen to the other samples.
Another guy who does 'Catholic Rap' is 'The Apologist' - I've got a few of his albums and like them all (Despite not like rap - hahah).
Johnf: is it maybe some kind of figurative (non-rude) double-entendre - the mouth as a 'gate'? Instead of the gates of Hell prevailing, Our Lord prevails on our gates? Who knows.

I believe Bishop Fulton Sheen in heaven, is tickled (Gaudete and Laetare) pink about this. Thanks Father!
Strange genre to find such an excellent song.

Thanks Fr Tim, I'm not into rap myself but I have a special interest in Archbishop Sheen as some of his family came from my home County, Roscommon.

This was fantastic! I just tweeted it. :-)
I rather liked it. I think only good can come from projects such as this.
Dear Father Tim,
Please pray for our late beloved priest, Father Edward Houghton, who was killed in an RTA yesterday aged 40.
Our parish is in shock at this news. He was the assistant priest at Our Lady of Grace and St Edward in Chiswick and really wonderful man.

Red Maria - very sorry to hear that. Will do a separate post to ask for prayers.
Every shot in the video showed Communion by Mouth.
Is Akalyte trying to tell us something?
I think he is.

I think that he was trying to tell us that Communion by mouth should be the norm...
