Mother speaks out on sex education


4thought.tv is a daily series of 90 second films on "religious, spiritual and ethical issues." A theme is chosen to run for a week: last week the topic was "What sort of sex education should be taught in our schools?" Patricia Wocial, mother of a lovely family that I know well, was invited to be on the series: here is a link to her measured, calm, but hard-hitting contribution. I have seen the material that she is referring to. It is a shame and a disgrace that it should have been shown in a Catholic school.

Baptism water rosary photo

Here is the accompanying text: This was taken at the baptism of Valentino Mora, son of Erica, a single mom of 21 who asked the photographer to take a picture of her son for free. The photo of the baptism of Valentino Mora is sweeping the Internet, because at the time the priest pours the Holy water over his head, the water flows in the shape of a rosary. This story began at the Parish of the Assumption of Our Lady in Cordova, Spain, where the baptism of a one month baby took place. At the time that Valentino came to the baptismal font for the sacrament of baptism, Erica asked the photographer Maria Silvana Salles, who was hired by other parents baptizing their babies, to take a photo of her son as a favor, since the young mother had no way of paying for it. The eternal truths and the threefold remorse of the damned

Holy Father encourages us to blog - with a priestly heart

It has been a normally busy Saturday in the parish: Mass (EF) Exposition, Confessions, Benediction, arranging Baptism, and Convalidation, newsletter, Confessions, Mass (OF), house blessing with tea and cakes and chat about the Church and education. So I finally got home, finished the Office, checked my email, and remembered that today is the day for the release of the Holy Father's message for World Communications Day .
