Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles attended a conference on the environment yesterday at the Italian Parliament. they also had a meeting with the Holy Father in his private library.
There are photos from Getty, and photos from Reuters (these are searches on DayLife so they will get overlaid soon.)
One of these photos just has to end up on the front cover of Private Eye, surely?

Pope Benedict XVI "What do you think of my private library Charlie?".
Prince Charles "It nearly as good as the New Erith Library that was opened in the London Borough of Bexley on St Georges Day by Mayor Nick O'Hare last week. The internationally famous blogger Father Finigan even remembered it at Our Lady of the Rosary's solemn High usus antiquior Mass for St George".

How edifying to see that the Duchess of Cornwall and on previous occassions Her Majesty the Queen and the late Diana, princess of Wales adhered to protocol by wearing black and veiling their hair (when a certain politician's Catholic wife wore white knowing she was not entitled to do so). It is a mark of the Royal family's courtesy and diplomatic skills which sadly put some of our politicians to shame.

Pope Benedict to Prince Charles - "Well at least she doesn't think she is a Queen, unlike that Cherie Blair..."
Oh, this is too much fun...

"ohhhhh.....this where you make the er 'bread' then, is it?"
"Touch it and see, my son..."
"Oh how white and fluffy....oh Camilla darling, do come and have a feel...you never told me the Pope made his own bread! Simply spiffing...can i have some?"

The Duchess of Cornwall: Get me outta here!(2nd pic)
The guy in white: Yes, this is the Book of Life ... hmmmmmm ... I'm not seeing your names here ....

The guy in white: After you repeal the Act of Settlement, we'll have a game of musical chairs here to determine the succession ....
Any reason, Father, why you call HRH The Duchess of Cornwall 'Camilla Parker-Bowles'? Do you not recognise the validity of the marriage?
Actually the Holy Father sang an old Music Hall ditty to Charles.
"Hello! Hello! Who's your lady friend?
Who's the little girlie by your side?
I've seen you
With a girl or two,
Oh, oh, oh, I am surprised at you!
Hello! Hello! Stop your little games.
Don't you think your ways
You ought to mend?
This isn't the girl I saw you with at Brighton.
Who? Who? Who's your lady friend?"
The Pope found the 1914 recording on You Tube.
Allan - no, I did not intend anything by it.
Prince Charles: "I am terribly sorry about that whole business with Henry."
Camilla: "Oh please, let's just get out of here and go get a pizza."
Third Photo:
HH: "Your Highness, Who is that strange woman in black behind us?"
HRH: "I've no idea Your Holiness, but she keeps stalking me. Follows me everywhere, seems to be under the delusion that she is my wife! Even although she is already married!! Any chance you could have a word with the Swiss Guards to get them to "Take care of her" as they say in Italy?"

"Zat ? Oh Zat ees zee third secret of Fatima. Heh heh heh."
The Pope would say nothing unkind and Private Eye probably would not mock him as they don't do that sort of thing.
Perhaps in the last picture Prince Charles asks "Will I be as old as you before I become King?"
No Father, you are mistaken, surely you meant The tablet not the Private Eye, or would they find this sort of news irrelevant??
Third picture caption:
"Look Charles, I don't know how to tell you this, but my Private Secretary, Monsignor Georg Ganswein, hasn't taken his eyes off Camilla."
Fr excuse my ignorance and I don’t mean to sound rude or disrespectful
But why black clothing and a mantilla
I mean I can understand wanting to dress your best and conservatively if you have an audience with the pope but don’t see why black.
And as for the mantilla (a custom I am familiar with and have adopted) I realise the pope is a very very important man and deserves the utter most respect but he is nonetheless just a man and not Christ
Third picture: "Mrs Parker-Bowles tactfully allows the Holy Father to win at Musical Chairs."
Who knew the pope's private library was also a chapel where Camilla would be expected to wear a veil. WHY?
snaps to her for not having a dress that dragged on the ground?

'Now see here, Holy Father, we really can get the 99 Names of Allah to scan to the tune of Zadok the Priest for the next coronation'.
Not very funny, but I bet that's what he'd like!
Top photo: 'What do you mean "Defender of Faiths", you little jumped up cretin?'
Why is the pope officially receiving that man's concubine?
I thought the Church was against concubinage.
Catherine:
It's a tradition that everyone when meeting the Pope should wear black and women should cover their hair. Only Catholic queens may wear white. I don't know where the tradition began. I don't think it presumes that the Pope is greater than or equal to Christ, it's more a sign of respect of his office as Christ's Vicar.

"So if you'll just sign here, your Royal Highness, we can forget all that unpleasantness about Henry VIII..."
