It is known as one of the "Eight wonders of Kansas"; when it was built, it was the largest Church west of the Mississippi river. the exterior of the church is constructed with blocks of local limestone weighing 50-100 pounds each.

Another beautiful church is just a fw miles away. Although no longer having mass, the tiny local community is maintaining it and keeping it open to the public.

I thought about adding the link to that church as well. I understand that Mass is occasionally celebrated there, maybe a few times per year, on special occasions. Hope so--it is a truly beautiful church.
Oh, and the cemeteries! I'm going to have to take a drive to the western part of the state to see those. Those crosses are really lovely.
