Shouldn't the tag be 'blasphemy' rather than 'humour'?

This just beggars belief... first of all praying to "Wisdom - Sophia" to have mercy, and then removing references to God the Father and God as "Him" or "He"... and even praying to "Christ Our Brother" instead of "Christ Our Lord"...

Can these women really be so self-deluded that they believe this mockery is Catholic?

Fr. Tim,

I don't know why this post has been tagged as "humour" -- it looks like a completely run-of-the mill day of prayer for pastoral assistants in Clifton or Portsmouth to me. All very routine, if you ask me.

Listening to their debased "Kyrie", reminded me of a "punishment" I received at university - I had to write an essay on Elisabeth Schüssler Fiorenza's "Sophia The-a-logy". Oh, that was a punishment, but left me in no doubt concerning this dangerous heresy.

I'm fascinated how feminist the-a-logians seem to have odd sounding names, E.S.F., above, Rosemary Radford Reuther, Phylis Trible (rhymes with dribble). This can't just be coincidence.

Do you think the g*d(dess) is having a laugh?

What's "funny" is that they don't even know what sanitized version of the Mass they're using.

Some sang "Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord" whereas others sang "Blessed the one who comes in the name of our God". Which is it? Who knows? I think the beginning of the Sanctus (if it could still be called that) was changed too... "God of love" instead of "God of might"? They won't say "Lord".

This is a terrible mockery of the Mass. These people must not have properly formed their consciences well enough. It is too much about them, not really about God. I hope they will see the errors of their ways, and will ask the Pope for forgiveness for what they have done. They are still humans with immortals souls, however, and so we must pray for them.

They're not even colour co-ordinated. It's so bad it's almost hilarious. Seriously, though, I agree with Ben Trovato this really is in the realm of blasphemy. How dare anyone, no matter how sincere, carry out this mockery of a 'liturgy'. They even have the temerity to pray for the Pope even as their very action separates them from communion with him and the rest of the Church. The only consolation in the video was that so many were elderly they'll probably all be gone in a few years. They need prayer.

I don't know. I find it hard to watch anything with a tambourine! :)

tradcatholic said...

This is indeed a scandal - not only on the part of the non-ordained crazy women, but on the part of the clerics disgracefully on the 'altar', but on the part of those silly mostly old women in the 'audience'. A tambourine, no less. How stupid!
Not humourous at all! They may all 'enjoy' themselves in the latter life all warm and fuzzy walking on the 'skulls of bishops'.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.

"The 'Mass' is ended, now let the service begin"? Really? Uck. Also, that's a lot of "concelebrants." And the laity (not that the "womenpriests" aren't) reciting the "blessing" with the "womanpriest" makes me ouch inside.

Unwatchable!

If wasn't for the fact that they have put the salvation of their souls at risk I'd be laughing my head off, because they're so obviously bonkers.

Notice that there is not one young person in sight. No wait! I think I saw one woman who appeared to be in her mid-thirties, but that's it.

Catholic with Attitude said...

"Blessed is He...." notice one of the lady priestesses manages to throw in "Blessed is One" to avoid using He!

There are too many things wrong with this to even start counting. In the words of the nan describing her car - "It's a complete write off!"

They have made a God in their image and likeness.

If it wasn't so tragic, it'd be funny.

Given all the circumstances, I found this sadly touching, "Spiritus ubi vault spirat".

Actually, this is no different from many Novus Ordo liturgies, many women severs ware albs, of course, the celebrants gender is male.

What a contrast between that and a Mass.

Am I the only one who feels like they're doing something wrong simply by watching this video?

StMichael said...

You know, this video just goes to show us that their real aim is NOT women's ordination, but the elimination of any hierarchy whatsoever (as evinced by the whole congregation "concelebrating"). These "WomenPriests" are probably more than heretics, and they might even be in schism (setting up another church).
On an interesting sidenote, I don't think I would get so hot and flustered over this if they were a bunch of 20-30s women celebrating the Tridentine Mass in fiddlebacks :)

Watching this was like driving past a train wreck on the highway. You know you shouldn't look, but often can't. Pray for these poor, deluded people.

Sadie Vacantist said...

I've been to Masses like that were not classified as heretical but approved by the ordinary.

Elizabeth said...

Definately disobedient blasphemers and lunatics!!!

Can't quite work out whether the altar is circular or kidney-shaped, like a dressing table. The latter wouldn't surprise me - after all, if the focus of the liturgy is how wonderful you are, aren't mirrors the next logical step?

I just played "Abendmahl Gottesdienst" for the german (lutheran) church here. It was much more reverently done and liturgical-looking than this fake. I just wonder why these ladies want to be "catholics" -of all the protestant denominations there are and in many sects they really could be all the inventive they like. So why just catholic?!
It hurts me every time I have to play for protestants (my family needs the money desperately). Watching this clip felt like I was doing something sinful....

Where are the gallows...I want to hang myself immediately! These people can not seriously be sane!!! They hven't even got a crucifix or anything...its like an insane asylum, but without the medical staff!!! Im glad they have the excommunication for commiting this herecy..and as for "wisdom sophia"..are these people on crack!!!

I guess now we know what the Eleusinian Mysteries looked like. No wonder they kept them a secret!

P.S. That is most definitely NOT MY MASS!

Listening to the "sanctus" or Unsanctus...where some say Blessed is He and others say blessed is the one...reminds me of a good story from when I was Russian Orthodox..."a bishop enters the communist town meeting that is held on the eve of pascha (easter) and is dressed in plain clothes...he listens to the different speakers tell horrible stories of godlessness...and how the church only seeks to subvert the peoples. The party boss invites now the citizens to speak...and the bishop stands up in his plain clothes...and says I only have one thing to say about this subversive church...CHRIST IS RISEN! or CHRISTOS VOSKRESE! the traditional eastern rite greeting for easter! and in unison shout back...INDEED HE IS RISEN! VOISTINU VOSKRESE! You can never take the Catholic out of the people...no matter how inbred with putrid doctrine they become. It will all collapse eventually, and their fruitless "proprieties". Hopefully sooner than later before they send souls to hell.

I think these women are pathetic.

The Letter to the Romans comes to mind. They failed to acknowledged God. And God did not punish them. He just abandoned them to their perverted minds:
"And since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God handed them over to their undiscerning mind to do what is improper.
They are filled with every form of wickedness, evil, greed, and malice; full of envy, murder, rivalry, treachery, and spite. They are gossips and scandalmongers and they hate God. They are insolent, haughty, boastful, ingenious in their wickedness, and rebellious toward their parents.
They are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless."
Saint Paul dixit.

Perhaps -just perhaps- this is not something to be laughed about, nor a place for needless invective.

As a traditional Catholic, and the son of an Anglican clergy women, I can say that many of these comments are as insensitive as this 'Mass' was.

That being said, this blog commentary should not be forum for (what would appear to the average reader) the confraternity of angry, insecure, intolerant old men who bicker over the celebration of a Call to Action liturgy!

Rather, what should have been discussed by this point is the wide variety of vocational opportunities available to women, and the unique nature of the priest; and more importantly, the uniquely masculine nature of his role.

The blog commentary can be the forum for whatever the master of the blog wants it to be a forum for. He's perfectly capable of not putting up any comments he doesn't want to put up.

2. Several commenters, including myself, were women, and therefore not old men.

3. We're not bickering. We all agree this was a travesty.

4. No liturgy took place on this video.

Confraternity of angry old men and women. Touché.

Insecure? Surely. Why else would you all care so much what a few lunatic heretics do? Funny to laugh at - not so funny to discuss root causes.

Bravo Anita, you've succeeded in missing the point.

There is very little to do about it after the fact; this is the time to discuss why so many women feel called to the priesthood - and developing a loving yet firm response to this situation.

Of course, it's a lot easier to mention how they didn't say 'He', which, ironically, provoked exactly the reaction these women wanted. They wanted to incense the Catholic faithful, and this blog just proved they succeeded.
