Bishop O'Donoghue on proposed abortion TV advertising

Bishop O'Donoghue has issued an excellent statement on the news that the Advertising Standards Authority is considering allowing the abortion industry to advertise through the broadcasting media. As he says,
This deeply damaging proposal originates from the Independent Advisory Group on Sexual Health & HIV and therefore comes from the heart of the abortion industry – threatening yet another hammer-blow to the sanctity of human life in this country.
Read the full statement here.

Where is the clear and resounding voice putting the Catholic and Pro-Life position in front of the media? Can our Catholic Heirarachy not be faster 'out of the blocks' on these persistent media attacks? Will weeks go by without a single comment from on high?

God Bless you Bishop PO'D. Again you are the lone voice that speaks out...

What an excellent statement! I wonder if there is a POD facebook fanclub?

Depressingly, a supporter of this wretched proposed change said on the radio that abortion, contraception, STDs, under-age sex, etc. already feature heavily in the storylines of soaps such as East Enders transmitted before the 9pm watershed, so that allowing adverts is going to make no difference!

It's yet another tragic thing that is happening...And yet it is great that once again Bishop Patrick O'Donoghue is standing against it.

We've been so encouraged by him in recent months that we're holding a day of reflection on Fit for Mission? Church tomorrow with Fr. Ian Dalgleish at St. Joseph's in Denigh. Please pray for the day.

Good statement. As he says, abortion is promoted as a quick-fix solution but it's not compassionate at all.

I'm always encouraged to see bishops speaking up to teach and defend the Faith.

Are the Bishops in the UK using the very successful USA ad campaign,CATHOLICS COME HOME, which will go national by 2010, to fight against these anti Catholic and anti Life ads?
If these anti Life ads are aired, the Church needs to air some positive ones.
