A teacher once told me that at a parents' evening, she suggested that a particular child might think of pursuing a career as a teacher. The parent replied "I hope she can do much better than that!" Not terribly encouraging for the teacher - and indeed it is hard to think of a more worthwhile way to spend one's working life than educating children.
Looking around my own list of Catholic blogs, some of the most articulate and original are written by teachers. A new one that has come to my attention is Witness to Love by Radagast. There are some excellent articles there and I recommend it to you. The blog has a strong pro-life and pro-family emphasis.

To my observation teachers play an important role in Lourdes. The length of holiday and low cost of accomodation may be contributing factors. Continuity here is important with hospitallers needing to work together so the work of the teachers may be particularly valuable.
I wonder if Fred Goodwin will spend time there. As a young retiree it would be a place where he could make a contribution.
Dare I assume that my blog is among the "some" ??
:-p
Where would the world be without teachers. Jesus after all was a teacher. His (foster) Father was carpenter and His Mother a housewife. Not really an example of high flyers.
Everyone has a place in this world, and all work is a means to holiness as long as it is done for the love and glory of God. As a mother and housewife, most of my daily work consists of cooking, cleaning, laundry etc. Yes, "I hope she can do much better than that!" would probably apply, I have a Degree and Masters, but we should direct our lives towards the good of others and God decided my life should not be one that followed a career (possibly at the expense of my family) but that of an invisible mule (LOL Ha Ha) who puts God and her family before everything.
My blog is pro life and pro family but not very original or articulate unfortunately.
Anyway, teaching is becoming like the priesthood, I've had a few pupils inform me 'I'm thinking of teaching, but my parents aren't very happy with the idea..."
