Faith Priests' Day

The visit to Dorking was for the Faith Priests' Day. We meet up for lunch, followed by a paper and discussion. Today it was Fr Dominic himself on the encyclical Deus Caritas Est. The talk and discussion were most illuminating. One issue that was raised was the relationship of eros to the fall and the effects of original sin. We also considered some aspects of Pope John Paul's "Theology of the Body". Fr Philip Miller gave a talk on this at Ruislip recently and has therefore been reading up on the subject.

Fr Hugh MacKenzie was there with a few edits and suggestions for my essay-review of "Opening Up" which will be published in the next Faith Magazine. After tea, several of us stayed on to discuss more general issues relating to the Church and to parish life. It is a very salutary thing to meet with other priests in this sort of environment and share ideas and experiences.
