Another old rite Mass in St Peter's

A commenter put me onto this interesting message on the Italian Crimson Forum:

Referring to another celebration of the old Mass in St Peter's, it reads:
Sarà Sabato 10 novembre alle ore 10 nella Basilica Papale di San Pietro.
Celebrerà Sua Eccellenza Mons. De Magistris.
Vi posso assicurare che sono tutti molto contenti .
Vi posso assicurare che alcuni giovani Sacerdoti assisteranno per "apprendere" il modus celebrandi.

[Translation]It will be on Saturday 10 November in the Papal Basilica of St Peter. His Excellency Mgr De Magistris will celebrate. You can be assured that all are very happy. You can be assured that some young priests will assist in order to learn the manner of celebrating.

Hello Fr Tim
There's something odd about that post on the Italian website. It gives as its source your article on the LMS Mass (click 'QUI').
I wonder if it is a different Mass or just a re-organisation of the scheduled one?

I think that the first poster referred to LMS Mass publicised on my blog in an "I hope it is true" mood.

The reply post was saying "Yes, it is true and here are the details" - referring to a different Mass :-)

Many thanks to Father Tim for further encouraging news from St. Peter's.

He is performing a public service for those of us who do not visit Italian blogs regularly.

It would be disheartening indeed in the light of "Summorum Pontificum" if nothing seemed to be happening in St. Peter's itself.

But all sounds well.

Father Stephen's interesting comment caused me to visit the Italian blog via the link.

The earlier post clearly refers to the LMS Mass in St. Peter's on Friday 23 November, to be celebrated by Mons. Barreiro.
The post refers to the LMS as "un' associazione di fideli inglese".
This Mass is advertised on the Latin Mass Society website.

The reply post seems to refer to a completely different Mass "in rito antico" to be celebrated by Mons. de Magistris on 10 November.

I saw this announced on another Italian blog, but I forget which one. Sorry.

At least the Italian on these blogs is, shall we say, less obscure than the diplomatic language used by Mons. Bertori of the Italian Bishops Conference, who when commenting on the fact that there had been a bit of a "baruffa" in the Conference, talked opaquely and confusingly of the existence of "diverse sensibilities" between the Italian bishops.

Father Tim posted unforgettably on that, I remember.
So that now the phrase "diverse sensibilities" has entered my lexicon of diplomatic language.

A further comment.

I see from Cattolici Romani that there is yet another church in Rome where the "old" Mass is said regularly.

It is the church of San Giuseppe a Capo Le Case, in the via Francisco Crispi, near the Porta Pia, where apparently there is a Mass in "rito antico" at 11 a.m. every Sunday.

This is in addition to the FSSP church of San Gregrorio dei Muratori, in the via Lecossa, (9.30 a.m. and 6 p.m.,) and the church of the Santi Nomi di Gesu e Maria in the via del Corso, near the piazza del Populo (10 a.m.)

I think Orbis Catholicus said he would post more information about regular vetus ordo Mass at Santa Maria Maggiore, but there is no further news yet.

All very encouraging.
