The Reluctant Sinner has floated the idea of a Guild of Catholic Bloggers. I think it is a good idea and will be going along to the planning meeting on 7 May. In response to a comment on this blog, I suggested the idea of having Blessed Titus Brandsma as the patron saint. His feast day is 26 July so it might be good to organise a Mass for that day.
Bloggers naturally want to keep their independence intact but it is always good to meet up with other bloggers, commenters and readers face to face at blognics, traditional Masses, and other Catholic events. A Guild might well be able to help that along, so I'm more than willing to get in on this and encourage it along.

Thank you for your wonderful support and encouragement, and for having suggested Titus Brandsma as a patron.
I really look forward to meeting you on the 7th. So far, there will be about 8 of us, including a couple of priests and a representative from St Paul's bookshop.
For those of us who blog (which can be a lonely "vocation"), the opportunity to meet up for Mass and mutual support seems like a good thing. Hopefully, others feel the same... From comments on my blog, I know that quite a few do.
God bless.

No.It.Isn't
Nobody is "desperate to be ruled by bureaucracy", ready to "kowtow to the Powers" etc; nor are we going to be told what to write on our blogs; nor is it the Katyn Massacre etc.
It is a few bloggers wanting to meet up, support each other, have Mass occasionally, and generally serve the Church of Christ by blogging. We've chosen a patron saint. We might even make a badge or a logo or something.
Join if you want, don't join if you don't want to: but don't rubbish the thing on the basis of pure speculation before it has started.
I'm not sure that the English all want to be ruled by bureacracy but it sure does seem that some people are only happy when they are unhappy.
Well said Father, my sentiments exactly.
I think some people have been watching some very bad movies. They're only pretend.
The Daleks aren't real, either.
Father,
Why do you say traditional Masses as part of your proposal? I would have thought this may be misinterpreted by readers (like me). I hope you are not saying the EF is some kind of pre-requisite.
Paul - it is not my proposal, it is a proposal of Reluctant Sinner which I am happy to support and encourage.
I did not say that the traditional Mass was part of the proposal for a Catholic bloggers guild but that it is good to meet up - and some Catholic bloggers sometimes meet up at traditional Masses. This doesn't mean that the Guild needs to be tied to the traditional Mass.
So no, I am not saying that the traditional Mass is a kind of prerequisite.
Things like this might be discussed at the preliminary meeting. My own advice would be not to make the Masses exclusively EF but not to exclude the EF Mass either.
