High Mass slideshow

Before the Mass yesterday, I set up my camera on a tripod in the Church. Mac was deputed to click the cable release during the Mass. I put some of the pictures together with Windows Movie Maker and added Bach's 1st Brandenburg concerto as theme music. This was chosen to emphasise our theme of Baroque Ressourcement. I clipped the file size down to 10Mb so the picture quality is for viewing in the standard small box rather than full screen. Enjoy!

UPDATE - new version with the typos corrected. I uploaded the full version as it in fact only goes to 16.4Mb. Pictures slightly better but not great quality. It doesn't look too bad in full screen.

Why does the date at the beginning say 2997? VEry inspiring slideshow, of course.

That really is a lovely little church you have there Father, you must be pleased to be there. What is the architectural description of the panelling in the Sanctuary, would one call it faux-Tudor, or perhaps REAL tudor (for all I know)? The angled portion where the wall meets the ceiling is a nice touch, and so are the windows in the sanctuary. And, ah, blessed altar rails! It has a very homey feel, like a house chapel (I hope you never need to build a priest-hole in it!) When was it built? And how often do you do the Tridentine rite in it?

Great video!

Dear Father:

You may want to have a look at the date you listed on the first page of your slide show. I didn't realize we were that far in the future.

Oh wow... when's the next one?

BTW, I've just noticed a typo - the communion slide - should that be "your soul" rather than "you soul"?
;-)

Thanks for the notes about the typos. I'll correct them now.

The panelling was put in by one of me predecessors, Fr Koch. The Church was built in 1936 and extended in teh 60s. I put in the altar rails.

Was anybody there?

Fr Tim Finigan said...

Yes. Although this was an event particularly for clergy, we had a good attendance considering that it was a weekday and quite a few people had come to our usual scheduled weekday Mass earlier.

And why, pray tell, did Fr. Briggs not see fit to inform, say, *his* parishioners of this bit of High Awesomeness?

:)

hmm.... the video seems no longer to be available...

Hey, anonymous... check out the communion shot on the video for the answer to your question!!

The most beautiful thing I have seen all day.

Why "Baroque Resourcement"? I trust you're not a liturgical archaeologist:)

BTW (pedant point coming up) the music is JSB's 1st concerto.

Demerzel - sorry, I edited and reposted it. All OK now.

Anon - thanks: I had that one as fourth on the list in my files but you are right, it is the first. Corrected the post now.

Baroque Ressourcement: not only liturgy, also theology and ascetical teaching as per Francis of Sales, Charles Borromeo, Robert Bellarmine etc.

But yes, I am a bit of a liturgical archaeologist too :-)

"...date at the beginning say 2997?"

Matt Doyle: It is comforting to suppose that things will be more like this in 2997 than they are in 2007!

And with ***Your*** Spirit :-)

It's actually comforting to think that soon it will be possible to do an acceptable Classical Rite peoples missal with the ICEL translation used for those prayers that survived the change.

Beautiful. :)
