Giant walk-in monstrance?

Jeff Miller, the Curt Jester has a post today that I found amusing.

He considers the liberal Catholic view that the Blessed Sacrament should be put in a side chapel and quotes LA Catholic's question "Shouldn't we also put the whole congregation off to the side, too?" - since Jesus is also present in the assembly.

Jeff's suggestion in his post Consistency is that we should have a giant, walk-in monstrance for the congregation to sit in.

This reminds me of a church I visited in Florida. The church had no images whatsoever. The stained glass windows were just geometric shapes. The reason for the lack of images was, "Because we are the saints, and we project ourselves onto the walls and windows" or some such nonsense.

I said that in seminary twenty years ago, except I said why don't the liberals get a giant monstrance with a huge mirror in the middle, to which another seminarian said there should rather be a spotlight and mini-stage in the giant monstrance, where the professional laity could do songs/sketches/recitations like the gong show - As my best mate from seminary, Fr David Loftus, is Head of the LA Education office [for his sins] , I think it might be more a chinese whisper...
