Forthcoming events at Blackfen

Sometimes, looking at events on the other side of the globe, I forget to pass on information about what is happening in my own parish. This Tuesday is the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and we have a Solemn High Mass (Classical Rite) at 8pm, followed by the Te Deum and the consecration of the parish to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. (We also have a Novus Ordo English Mass at 10am with some Marian hymns if you would prefer that.) Our statue of Our Lady of the Rosary has been dressed up as is now customary for major Marian feasts. Here are Hilda and Maria, justly pleased with their work:

On Sunday 26 October, the feast of Christ the King in the older calendar, we will have Solemn Vespers at 7pm after our (English, eastward-facing) evening Mass.

On Saturday 1 November, the Feast of All Saints in the older calendar, we will have Missa Cantata at 10.30am, followed by Benediction and the Marian Anthem, followed by refreshments in the Hall, followed by Solemn Vespers at 2.30pm.

We have the usus antiquior every Saturday at 10.30am - normally Low Mass but Missa Cantata on the first Saturday of the month. We have Missa Cantata every Sunday at 10.30am and we have an 8pm evening Mass in the usus antiquior on Holydays. (Again, if you prefer the Novus Ordo, there are our 10am Masses Monday to Friday and three out of four of our Sunday Masses celebrated in the "ordinary form" with two of those versus populum.)

Any priest or deacon in good standing who happens to be free on any occasion we have a Missa Cantata would be most welcome to come and attend in choir - if there are two, I am always ready to change to High Mass at short notice.
