A couple of people have written asking for simple instructions on how to set up an ID to comment on the blog. I'm not much good at technical support so I'd be very grateful if someone could pop some simple instructions in the comment box - or indeed on your own blog if you would like the hits.
If you put instructions in the combox and include links, please put them in as hyperlinks (Cf. How to put links in the combox.)

If you have a google account, you can just use that. Otherwise sign up for a Google or Blogger account under "Choose an identity" - is that helpful?
A Google/Blogger account will work fine, as will accounts with any of the following: LiveJournal, Wordpress, Typepad or AIM. Note that to use this you will need to be logged in to your respective account whilst you use your id when commenting - this is so that cookies can be verified (I guess).
If someone doesn't have any of those or doesn't wish to use their accounts for those platforms, get an "independent" OpenID by checking the latter's website.
If you have a LiveJournal, Wordpress, or Typepad blog you can use "OpenID" and click on the icon representing your blog - type in your blog's name as it shows up in your address bar and there you go. OpenID seems to have its own setup that you can use, and also AOL Instant Messenger seems to use OpenID.
Setting up a Blogger ID
It really is very simple to set up an ID so that you can leave a comment on those blogs which allow comments.
First CLICK HERE and then follow the instructions for setting up your own blog. (Having a blog doesn't mean you have to use it, it's just means of getting your Blogger ID...)
Thanks LCM - that's the sort of thing we need. There are people who go blank when you say "get a blogger account".
Maybe someone can do a step-by-step guide? It may seem simple but clearly some people are having problems doing this...
I find that whenever I attempt to post on a Choose an identity blog which doesn't include alternatives e.g. name or anonymous I have to enrol again each time. Sometimes the antispam letters are so hard to decipher that two or three attempts are necessary to be accepted.
Off topic -
Father, your blog is at the top of my favourites list and for some weeks everytime I log on, my computer freezes and I have to close everything down. This only happens when I log on to you first; if I go to a couple of other blogs first I can come back to yours and everything will be ok. This is also happening with WDTPRS which is towards the bottom of my favourites. Do you know why this would be happening?
Computer decides order - not my preference.
Victoria - sorry to hear of that problem. I am afraid I don't know what it might be. Without wishing to sound like a typical buck-passing support line, I have not had other people report this problem so perhaps it is something to do with your favourites list. Try deleting the entry and making a new entry in the favourites list.
Another approach would be to use something like "Bloglines" or "Google reader" which give you your blogs as a news feed. You can always go from there to the blogs themselves if you want.
I agree with you about the anti-spam words.
In answer to Victoria's problem: I'm almost certain your computer 'Freezing Up' is caused by 'Spyware' - my solution to this is download 'CCleaner' (link below). Follow the instructions given on the site, and I can guarantee this FREEWARE will find and erase ALL the temporary files on your computer, including Malware and Spyware, which are more often the cause of slow connections to the internet which in turn tends to cause your computer to 'freeze'.
Here's the link...Download CCleaner from FileHippo.com
Reverend and Dear Father Tim,
I'm off to write a tutorial for your 'Blog Fans' (almost rhymes with Blackfen!)
"...I may be some time..."
(Famous last words!) :)
LCM
The Blog-Fans of Blackfen
went surfing one day,
and finding the internet
slower than 'surf and pay'
they went to Eastbourne
to reflect and to pray.
They prayed for sunshine.
They prayed for rain.
They prayed for lost souls
who had died there in vain.
And when they had finished
went home on the train.
Now the Blog-Fans of Blackfen
are back once again.
