A million on Marian Pilgrimage

The other day, a million people gathered for the Youth Pilgrimage to the shrine of Our Lady of Lujan, about 40 miles west of Buenos Aires in Argentina. Many of the pilgrims walked for 18 hours to get to the shrine.

The Catholic Culture website has information about Our Lady of Lujan and there is also a good piece at the  SSPX Canada website. The statue was originally intended for another village but various providential miracles of nature and grace ensured that the statue stayed at Lujan which became a place of pilgrimage.

Here is a photo of Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio in blue vestments. This year, he criticised "those who do not listen to the grievances of the people", widely understood as a reference to the present government of Argentina.
