A gradual turning towards the Lord?
Vita Pastorale is a very mainstream review in Italy, run by the Paulists. Interesting then, that in the October issue, there is an article by Rinaldo Falsini, L’altare verso il popolo รจ scelta conciliare discussing the question of the orientation of the altar. He cites Gamber and Lang's works as opening up the debate in recent years. Although he is not particularly sympathetic to the idea of liturgically "turning towards the Lord", it is very significant and encouraging that this issue is finally at least being debated in such a publication from San Paolo (which also publishes Famiglia Cristiana.) Not very long ago, the very subject would have been off the radar of any respectable Italian magazine.
