Hi there, interesting post as I have been giving a course for Lectors [not the Hannibal variety] who are going to be ministers of the Word in our parish church during weekdays. We have come up with some interesting discoveries by using a programme we followed. For instance, after the first reading at mass we are to conclude with "The Word of the Lord" rather than "This is the Word of the Lord". Also the fact that when the first reading is concluded there is no introduction to the Responsorial Psalm, but the refrain is just spoken out for the congregation to pick up upon.
Let me tell you we had great debates about the rightness of the whole lot but it was an education for me!
That's great, Fr. I've never understood why readers feel obliged to 'introduce' the response. Moreover, when they have it printed out for them, I don't see any reason why it should be spoken before the psalm itself. Why not just use it as a response to the verses.
