Love and Responsibility - talks at St Patrick's Soho

Love & Responsibility
Theological Lecture Series 2008
St Patrick's, Soho Square

Due to the success of "Catholicism for the Curious" and "Theology of the Body", the School of Evangelisation will be hosting a third series of lectures this year, commencing on Wednesday 27th February at supper & welcome at 6.15pm with talk starting at 7pm.

A series of high profile talks to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the encyclical Humanae Vitae. These talks will present a life changing message for a lifestyle of chastity that brings freedom, respect, peace and romance without regret. The talks will seek to unpack and explain the Church’s teaching on the truth and meaning of human sexuality in a way that is challenging, entertaining, encouraging and healing. The speakers will cover an abundance of compelling and uplifting reasons for embracing the virtues of chastity.

The first talk will be on Wednesday 27th February and then most Wednesdays until June (see schedule below or download here). If you would like more information then please call 020 7437 2010 or email info@stpatricksoho.org.

This is fantastic news, Father. I know a number of people who have been asking what is being done by the bishops to comemmorate this important anniversay. We have an answer - only it's not organised by the hierarchy. Good to see Bishop Hopes putting his name into the ring, though.

We never get anything like this up in Orkney!

I just wish priests would focus on the fundamentals of Christianity - the beauty, glory and mystery of God in Christ instead of this rather comic obsession with the pill.Hopefully, the bishops will ignore this "anniversary".

I think that Pope John Paul managed to relate these matters quite successfully to the fundamentals of the faith. The practical results of the contraceptive culture are not all that comic.

"Hopefully, the bishops will ignore this "anniversary"."

I've no doubt they will. But that doesn't stop priests and others seeking to further the "fundamentals of Christianity", the truths of the faith - one of which is fidelity to the teachings of the magisterium on the fundamental truths of married life.

A key truth there is fidelity to the unitive and procreative ends of marriage - something which Humanae Vitae sets out very clearly. The obverse of such fidelity, foretold if you like in HV, is the sexual revolution we're now experienceing, with all the pain and perversion that brings. These talks couldn't be more timely nor appropriate. They deserve full support.

The only ignoring that will hopefully be done is of comments like these. Your namesake already infected and tried to destroy Catholicism at the last council, but you won't have another bite at the cherry.
