Denzinger online

Follow this link to get Denzinger in English

This is a truly momentous development for online theological resources. Catechetics Online (Never Defend, Never Attack, Always Clarify) have published online an English translation of Denzinger.

Denzinger published the Enchiridion Symbolorum, Definitionum et Declarationum de Rebus Fidei et Morum (Handbook of Creeds, Definitions and Declarations concerning matters of Faith and Morals) as a compendium of the most important sources for magisterial teaching.

There have been many editions of the collection. The numbering usually cited by scholars is that of the Denzinger-Schonmetzer edition which is different from Denzinger's original text. However, Denzinger-Schonmetzer gives the "old" Denzinger numbers in the central margin.

Students of theology, especially seminarians, will benefit greatly by accessing this text. Ideally, seminarians should learn Latin and read the text of Denzinger. Until that happens, this is a very helpful standby.
